Jesse designed and built a type of "pointer", a mechanical measuring device which allows him to drill holes into the marble to a depth determined from a model. This procedure enables Jesse to "sketch" his figure from the block of stone with uncanny accuracy.

After carving to the end of the drill holes he carefully controls the detailing, texturing, and polishing. His latest trend is to provide integral coloration to the statue through techniques still evolving
